Philosophy

Questions about the fundamentals of life and world are mainly addressed in the discipline of Philosophy. In seeking after wisdom, everyone becomes a philosopher. A few questions that philosophers traditionally ask include: What is truth and is it possible to know it? What is real? How to live a good life? What is the nature of mind, free will, self etc? The academic discipline of Philosophy equips students to ask such questions the right way.

Philosophy is the most ancient and mother of all disciplines. Philosophizing is a training to be imbibed in critical thinking, which equips a person to be originally rational. What requires in leading man to the fullness of human essence is training in the right usage of reason and at Paideia, we place utmost emphasis on philosophizing by the students – helping students to see truth for themselves, the Socratic way and organise their conduct accordingly.

Religion

Human beings have the natural tendency to see life and world significantly, both naturally and religiously. Search for the divine and responses to its revealing have been primitive and close to human civilisation. As part of culture and intellectualisation, religions have become inseparable aspects of human life and it is a humanising source of inspiration for many.

Conflicting truth claims of religions flowing into the everyday life could be either enriching or disturbing. As part of civilisation and education, the focus should be to familiarise the tenets of different religions to young minds, which would help them see the richness and limits of one’s own religion and of others. We strive to spread education and awareness about various world religions and to bring in social cohesion and harmony through possible dialogue.

Law

The process of man’s transformation into human, as envisioned by the Paideia way of education, has study of law as an important aspect. Concepts of right and justice, inherent to human civilisation, get established through the humanly constructed legal system and are protected by the establishment of law.

Citizens’ knowledge about rights and the laws that protect them is a sign of a mature democracy. Research and education in jurisprudence and common laws are areas of interest at Paideia Institute. Training in law makes citizens empowered and responsible. Trainings in Philosophy and Law makes our students rational, responsible, and vibrant, we believe and our focus on legal studies is a part of our initiatives to train young minds to stand up efficiently and courageously to safeguard the rights of fellow citizens too.
